          House System

          Each student is placed in a School House. School Houses encourages loyalty , a sense of belonging and healthy competition in sports,debates,drama,elocution,quizzes and other cultural and academic activities devised to maximize participation by all.

          Each House is headed by Captains and Vice-Captains. Teachers are assigned to Houses and are expected to organize and coordinate House activities. To unfurl the creative potential of the students, the school has been divided into four houses namely Tilak , Nehru , Gandhi & Tagore.

           

          School Leaders
          School Leaders are selected for the Primary and Secondary Sections. The Head Boy , Head Girl and House Captains for the Primary are from Std V and for the Secondary from Std XII. Assistant Captains will be selected from Std XI.

          Students who consider themselves worthy of holding these posts are invited to file individual letters of nomination to the Principal. For the Primary, selections are made by the Principal after a secret ballot by the teachers. For the Secondary, Students of Std VII – XII elect the leaders by secret electronic voting system.

        • Assemblies

          Assemblies

          “ Our Assemblies, which include our acts of Worship are an important feature of our school’s life. They act as one of the main ways by which we create our positive  reflective ethos and promote our values – based education. Assemblies contain times of quiet reflection that enable pupils to develop the deepest values and aspirations of the human spirit. ”

          The Indian English Academy School  conducts exclusive Morning assemblies at 7:20 am in the Quadrangle/ Basement. Sunday Morning assemblies are particularly important , as it sholud bring the whole school back together again after the weekend break, to re-focus upon the week in view, on its objectives and the tools that will be used to achieve them. It is used to celebrate / recognize  students achievement in curricular and co-curricular activities.

          Other assemblies during the week build on the standards that are set at the beginning of the week. It is used to inform students about the happenings for that day, relevant information is passed to all concerned. The daily news headlines and school news are read out. Individual speakers from among the Management / teachers / Leaders speak on assembly topics.

          During Sunday assembly, a group of students perform entertaining the school with singing, dancing, acting and the playing of musical instruments. Each class in the school performs throughout the year.

          Activities

          An elimination round will be held for all solo stage items a week before the finals. Certificates will be issued for 1/2/3 place winners in all solo stage items.
          For all house events, the students will be marked classwise based broadly on number of students in the house participating, teamwork, completion of work, creativity & presentation as well as other specific criteria. Marks will be allotted for the house. No individual certificates will be given for class / house events.
          A mention of the same will be made in the specified column in the student’s calendar for all winners. Students are expected to bring their own material and they will not be permitted to borrow other materials. In all events (Individual & House), the selection of the judges is final and binding and no discussion will be entertained in this regard. A final sheet of Activities with scheduled dates and
          material required will be put up on the class notice boards and school website in the beginning of the Semester.
